About Me

Hello,

I'm Jamie; husband to an amazing wife, father to four wonderful children, Star Wars geek, sports nut, music lover, web designer, and of course, photographer. I've been exploring photography since 2008, and covered my first wedding on Halloween of 2009.

I would categorize myself as a photojournalist, and I enjoy the "cross-training" experience that photojournalism provides. Along with weddings, I have a passion for event coverage; in particular live music (concerts), road and adventure racing, and live sports.

I also enjoy portraiture and the challenge of mixing the photo-journalistic style into my work. Capturing the atmosphere of the event and the personalities of my subjects is always my goal.

Along with freelance work, I'm a staff photographer at The Intersection - a great music venue in Grand Rapids, MI - as well as an occasional contributor to Local Spins. I do race work for Fast Photo ProMichigan Adventure RaceRunGR and multiple race directors around the area. I also provided coverage for the Grand Rapids Drive, throughout their inaugural season in the NBA D-League.

Along with photography, I'm able to extend my creative side to the field of website design; something I've been doing with K-Data Systems since 2004. Need a website? Let me know!

In addition to being part of a wonderful family, I have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and am very devoted to serving Him, my church and others. I'd love to share that part of my life with you, if you're interested in knowing more.

For you photo nerds, I shoot with Canon cameras. My current lineup looks like this:

  • Canon 5D Mark III
  • Canon 1D Mark IV
  • Canon 70-200mm f2.8 L II IS USM
  • Tokina 16-28mm f2.8
  • Sigma 50mm f1.4 Art
  • Sigma 35mm f1.4 Art
